Friday, September 5, 2014

DC Airco supplied a DC13003 rooftop air conditioning system for the operator’s cab of an Rīgas Vagonbūves Rūpnīca (RVR) DR1A diesel multiple units, a proven DMU platform widely used across regional rail networks.

The DC13003 is a fully DC powered 110 VDC HVAC system, providing up to 3.9 kW of cooling capacity alongside integrated electric heating. Designed specifically for railway applications, the compact rooftop unit supports both new installations and retrofit projects, making it well suited for legacy rolling stock such as the DR1A. Built for demanding operating conditions, the system features a robust steel housing, integrated PLC based control with diagnostics, and reliable performance at ambient temperatures up to 45 °C.

Its retrofit friendly design allows installation with minimal modification while significantly improving driver comfort and operational conditions. This application demonstrates DC Airco’s ability to provide modern, energy efficient HVAC solutions that extend the service life and functionality of classic rail vehicles such as the RVR DR1A.
