HL3 Cab Cooling Retrofit for XTmas 521–525 Maintenance Vehicles
The XTmas 521–525 series, a fleet of self propelled track maintenance and overhead line support vehicles, has been retrofitted with the DC Airco DC9329 split air conditioning system to improve operator comfort and enhance year round working capability. The DC9329 unit is specifically designed for railway applications and is fully compliant with the EN 45545 2 Hazard Level 3 (HL3) fire safety standard. This ensures the system meets the highest requirements for fire resistance, smoke emission, and material safety within railway rolling stock. Its HL3 classification makes it ideally suited for vehicles operating in demanding construction and infrastructure environments.
With a cooling capacity of approximately 3,5 kW, the DC9329 provides reliable temperature control inside the operator cab, even during intensive maintenance shifts. The system maintains performance in ambient temperatures up to 45 °C and is equipped with an integrated PLC controller for continuous monitoring and dependable operation.
The retrofit takes advantage of the DC9329’s split unit configuration, which allows the system to be integrated seamlessly into existing XTmas vehicle structures. The compact indoor unit, robust outdoor condenser module, and pre charged quick connect hoses simplify installation and reduce vehicle downtime. Built with vibration resistant construction and a durable coated steel housing, the system is engineered to withstand the harsh mechanical stresses typical of rail maintenance operations.
By upgrading the XTmas 521–525 series with HL3 certified DC Airco cab cooling, operators benefit from greatly improved working comfort, safer cabin conditions, and enhanced operational effectiveness. The retrofit extends the service capability of these maintenance vehicles and ensures compliance with modern railway safety and comfort standards.
