GEA 4550 Locomotive – Cab Air-Conditioning Upgrade
DC Airco supplied its DC13005 rooftop air conditioning system for the driver’s cab of diesel locomotives operating within the Thailand Railways network, including an SWM – GEA 4550 (General Electric) diesel locomotive under hot, humid, and demanding Southeast Asian conditions.
The fully DC powered 24 VDC rooftop air conditioning unit model: DC13005 provides up to 3.9 kW of cooling capacity and is purpose designed for heavy duty mobile rail applications. The system features a reinforced steel housing, an advanced PLC based control system, and proven reliability at ambient temperatures exceeding 50 °C, ensuring stable cab climate control, enhanced operator comfort, and improved operational safety.
This project demonstrates DC Airco’s capability to deliver compact, energy efficient, and robust HVAC solutions for a diverse fleet of diesel locomotives in Thailand Railways service, supporting reliable performance and crew comfort in harsh operating environments.
