CPT Crawler Truck Retrofitted with New Operation Room Cooling System

Friday, November 16, 2018

A Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) crawler truck has been upgraded with a heavy duty air conditioning system to improve cooling inside the operation room during geotechnical investigations. The retrofit uses the DC Airco DC9300 24Vdc split cab air conditioner, a robust unit designed for mobile field equipment. The system provides strong cooling performance of approximately 3,8 to 4,2 kW and maintains reliable operation in ambient temperatures up to 50 °C. With an airflow capacity of around 800 m³/h, the 24-volt DC9300 ensures rapid and consistent cooling of the operator workspace, helping maintain comfort and protect onboard CPT electronics from high temperature exposure.

Built for harsh and dusty environments, the unit features a durable zinc plated steel housing with powder coating, vibration resistant construction, and prefilled refrigerant hoses. Quick connect fittings allow fast installation, making it well suited for retrofitting existing crawler trucks without structural modifications. The split type design also provides flexibility in placing the indoor and outdoor components.

This upgrade significantly enhances working conditions for operators and ensures stable performance of sensitive testing equipment, supporting more accurate and efficient CPT operations in demanding field environments.
