Climate Systems for Tamping Machines Operated by TSO France
TSO France is using two DC Airco DC24001 rooftop cab air conditioning (230 Vac) units together with the FC010 fresh air module on their rail tamping machines. These climate control systems ensure dependable cooling, heating, and fresh air circulation for operators working in demanding railway construction environments.
The DC24001 units provide a high cooling capacity of 7 kW and a 3 kW heating function, keeping operator cabs comfortable during both hot summer days and cold season maintenance work. Designed for heavy railway use, the systems maintain stable performance in ambient temperatures up to 45 °C, supporting long working shifts on track.
Importantly, the DC24001 units are engineered to meet EN 45545 2 Hazard Level 3 (HL3) fire safety requirements, the highest safety classification for railway rolling stock components. This ensures the systems meet strict industry regulations for fire resistance and operational safety in railway environments.
Both units are complemented by the FC010 fresh air module, which supplies continuous filtered outside air into the cab. This helps maintain clean air quality even in the dusty conditions typical of ballast tamping activities. By combining fresh air delivery with strong cooling and heating output, the system ensures a safe, comfortable, and clean working environment for machine operators.
Each DC24001 unit features a robust stainless steel housing, vibration resistant construction, and integrated PLC diagnostics, enabling reliable operation in tough railway construction conditions. The climate systems support efficient year round operation of tamping machines by improving operator comfort and helping maintain productivity throughout extended maintenance cycles.
TSO France’s use of these systems demonstrates the suitability of DC Airco’s heavy duty climate control solutions for high demand railway construction equipment.
