Cab Cooling Retrofit Completed on Drills at Mauritania Copper Mine
DC Airco has retrofitted heavy duty cab air conditioning systems onto drill rigs operating at a copper mine in Mauritania, improving operator comfort in extreme heat and dusty desert conditions. The retrofit, completed on 9 September 2015, uses the DC13005 rooftop air conditioner designed specifically for rugged mining vehicles.
The system runs on 24 Vdc and provides up to 3,9 kW (13,600 BTU) of cooling capacity, ensuring reliable performance in 50 °C+ high ambient desert environments. Its reinforced steel housing and vibration resistant construction suit heavy drilling machinery, while an airflow of 660 m³/h helps maintain clean cab air despite extreme dust.
This retrofit delivers a significant improvement in operator comfort, reduces heat stress, and supports safer, more efficient drilling operations at the mine.
